Washington comes to Iowa - SUCCESS
« on: May 11, 2010, 04:52:34 AM »
Nephew, Forest, from Battle Ground, WA, came out to Iowa to hunt with his Aunt Julie and me this week. We got 'er done yesterday morning! This was Forest's first turkey hunt - 20 steps with a TK-2000 muzzleloader. Bird had a 10.5" beard and 1.25" spurs - and he put on a dandy show in the decoys. Boy did an incredible job behind the gun. Two hours and three birds later, Julie dropped the hammer on this great one - 11.5" beard and almost #21.

We're done on 16 May, but it's been a memorable season so far. To all of you, best of luck as the season out there winds down - The Deacon

Congrads to Aunt Julie & nephew Forest ... and Uncle MD too.  All us BG hunters know how to put the hammer down !!!  Thanks again for getting me excited about turkey hunting and getting involved in this great sport ... keep passing the tradition on ...

Nice Birds!  I'd love to hunt some Easterns in that type of cover some day.

Great looking Easterns!  Congrats to both of the sucessful hunters.  A guy could get hooked on headin back every year to chase the Eastern Monarchs.  Their rattling gobble seemed to vibrate the very air!  I had my safety off more than once this year, only to be dubed by ultra wary toms.
