Anyone hunt Idaho Unit 13?
« on: May 28, 2010, 08:07:14 PM »
Doing research on ID controlled hunts - unit 13 looks interesting... but only about 10-20% public access.  Curious to know if anyone has hunted public land in this unit. (?)

I did a lot of research on it myself but never have been in the unit.  I have been in 18 a bunch of times and i imagine they look about the same.  I gave up on the unit because of the little public access.  Your best bet for public access if you can't get on private land would be in the south west corner of the unit.  I know the draw odds look good but the access is the reason why.

You might want to look at 14 arcoss the road.  Decent odds and good bucks.  And great looking country.

You may take a wknd trip down there talk to some land owners. If there farmers or cattle ranchers offer them a weekend of work for access :twocents: that works well for me to get on some good land back home. They appreciate it and half the time they just like the offer they don't ask u to help! I have a guy I hunt his land for whitetail(his land borders ours) and all he has me do is feed his cows before I go on an evening hunt! Takes 15 min. My dad told me that we are  the only ones to ever get permission on his place. And there's been a couple outfitters offer him $$$$ for the 400 acres of river bottom he has. :dunno:
Never to far, Just grab another minute!
