Sonic broadheads?

I was thinking about buying a dozen this year for hunting.  Does anyone have any input on them. I'm getting them at a good price but before I buy them I wanted to ask the experts

they are great... if you like your broadhead to mushroom out like a 30-06 bullet when it hits an animal.  i shot a deer and an elk with them and they both broke inside the animal and never exited. broken blades and ferrule... not a good idea

they do fly really well though, and are cheaper than most heads. but i wont use them again

That's What I was afraid of.  Did you hit bone in those animal?

teh deer i hit some ribs. on the elk i never hit any major bones, the heads did their job well though, neither animal went more than 30 yards after the shot. i just like a sturdier head.

I might get 6 of them and test them out.  I just like to have lots of broadheads made up for hunting season.  I just put together 14 wac'ems on Saturday

Love my sonic heads, you have to make sure and tighten them together with a good wrench. Fly identical to target tips and I have seen them go through a whitetail lengthwise still in tact.

i never used a wrench to tighten mine... maybe thats why they broke? they do fly nice. i will try and remember to post a pic of teh head this weekend when i get home.

Yeah, that's my only beef with them, they come apart easily if not properly tightened. Otherwise, I like them because I don't have to tune my bow differently for target shooting or hunting.

I shoot them, they are great! I've shot 2 deer with them and neither of them went more than 20yards.  I shot 1 deer right through both shoulder blades and the broadhead did not come apart.

i have tried them they have shot well but i have heard to many thing about when they hit an animal to turn me off of using them on big game. turkey and such is what i will use mine on.

Here is two animals that I have shot with them, both broadheads performed flawlessly and anmals went down within 50 yards.  Have shot another elk and a couple deer other than these pics I'll post.  This whitetail buck I actually spined him and he dropped on the spot.  Had to use vice grips to pull the broadhead out of the spine while butchering.  Blades were nicked but not bent or broken.  Ferrule's were just fine.  The few horror stories I have heard from guys shooting these heads, all seem to come down to not using a wrench when tightening the locking nut and getting the blades lined up properly.  I love my Sonic heads.  The elk I hit onside shoulder blade and a rib exiting and the arrow and broadhead were 10-15 yards beyond the animal.

A fellow hunting partner shot two different elk at 20 yards. Both shot in the shoulder and the arrow bounced off. Both broadheads were mushroomed. I would say no for big game. They do fly great and would be good for small game.
