No, odds are too low. With only two choices I wouldn't waste one of my choices on a permit with impossible odds like that one.

Yep, just to make it harder for everyone else....  Basically I started with 0 points thanks to drawing my second deer (100% chance) last year and our illustrious game department's decision to start all categories with last years' points.  So, instead of applying for points only I put in for Desert only.  Maybe I'll be lucky, I drew a Margaret archery with only one point many years ago....

 :yeah:
I had the exact same thinking.  This is the first year I haven't had Desert A as one of my choices.

Well, if the other 5,000+ people that usually apply for it are thinking like me and Bobcat, this MAY be your year... :chuckle:

Yea, put in with a group of two so we have a better chance of being struck by lightning on the drive over there.   :chuckle:

Nope and I never will. If I want to shoot a 160 buck I might as well put in for easier units to draw that have plenty of that caliber buck to chose from.

I don't know the big deal about the desert unit is you can kill just as big of buck elsewhere.

I drew a tag last year.  Doesn't live up to the hype.  You can get close to 30" but its a 3 pt with crab claws.  Saw lots of deer every day, but no monsters.  Most wide bucks have weak forks and no mass.

I live next to it as well. I see a few monsters out there every year, but I put in els where. I never have put in for the desert. Low odds of drawing a tag is a big reason.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!
