Does anyone have any experiance with this German made, US assembled scope?
They seem to be of a high level of quality...comparable to the Zeiss Conquest.

Not with the scopes....binoculars are very good.

I like the Zeiss Conquest series better.
I own 2 of the Zeiss so far. 3.5 - 10 x 44 and the 4.5 - 14 x 50.

You obviously like the Zeiss better than Leupold's products. Can you give me some reasons?? I am seriously considering going European on my next scope purchase, it will be going on my new Browning A-Bolt II in .25-06 Rem.
Thanks

A number of years ago, several of my friends and I ended up at Kesselrings just before dusk, and we looked through 4 scopes all of comparable objectives, magnification, and reputation outside looking down the road.
Night Force, Leupold Mark IV, Zeiss conquest, and a Nikon in the same price range. And between the 5 of us, all agreed that the zeiss brought in the most light. It was a hunanimous decision.
So several years later I looked again when I had the funding and checked again, and the leupold had improved to equal level, but I had built up the personal preference.
I bought the z-600 reticle on the 3.5-10 and the Z-800 reticle on the 4.5 -14 and don't regret it for a second.
But I won't talk bad about Leupold that regularly uses 30 mm tubes on many models and the screw in lens caps.

I've never looked through a minox rifle scope so I cant say much about them but I do own and use minox bino's.
I've been useing the 10x43HG's for a few years and love them.
If I come accross a minox scope localy so I can check it out, I'll give one a try.

Minox uses Schott glass in their scopes. Schott glass does not suck. Between my dad and I, we have several VXIII's and Conquests. The Conquest is a wee little bit better, but the occular is so big you can't mount them low on many rifles. From what I hear, the new VX3's are just as good optically as the Conquest. However, the Minox is supposidly just as good optically as both from what I hear, and they have a small ocular like the Leupy. Plus, you can get them in 3 and 5 X variable zooms. I have a pair of Minox 10x43 HG's and a pair of Minox 6.5 IF (the IF's are simply amazing and give my dads Swaro 8x32 EL's a run for their money) binos and absolutely love them. There is a very, very good chance my next scope will be a Minox Z5 2.5-10X40. From the reviews Ive seen, they are very, very good scopes. Easily as good as the VX3's and Conquests.... BTW.. cameralandny.com has the new Minox ZA3 3-9x40 for $289 delivered to your door. You aren't going to beat that price anywhere!

As far as i understand, minox was a minion of lieca until a few years ago when they became their own beast and continued to put out top of the line optics. My wife bought me a pair of MINOX BL 8X56 BR binos for ansitz and nachtjagd here in germany and let me tell you they are fanfrickentastic. The color rendition is at such a high level that the deer hiding in brush almost pop out like a sonar ping. I am one of several hunters now who have experienced european optics and know they are superior. Nothing wrong with leupy's, but they generally arent made with the intent of hunting day and night 364 days a year. I have put my minox binos next to new zeiss, old zeiss, Steiner night hunter xp's, steiner police, and hensoldts in mild comparisons and they held their own and surpassed many. I dont dare put them up next to bushnells because i can see the difference without a side by side comparison. I've been meaning to wright up a review for you guys so i guess i better get on it.
I would expect a similar quality in their scopes but i havent purchased one because i havent been in the position yet.
if you want to look at another european glass company that is stepping up to the big three(zeiss, schmidt&B,sworo) you should also look at MEOPTA. I made sure to purchase one of there scopes last fall because their quality is catching on and i knew the price would rise as people found them to contend with the big three. since last fall the prices of a few of their scopes has gone up $200-$300. In the states their prices jump rather than gradually increase because they buy a quantity of them at a time and the next time its time to order, the price is higher.
