.30 caliber model 1906

I went through the magnum phase. I had a .338,7mm,.300WSM. They've all come and they've all gone.

Shoot 'em in the vitals and the '06 kills as well as any.

Shoot 'em in the guts with a .338 and you'll still be chasing them cross country.

Cheaper ammo, less recoil and lighter rifles. Whats not to like about the '06?

I used to kill everything with a 30-06.  Then I got the bug and decided I needed one of each caliber.  30-06 is tried and true.  It will do the job on everything.  A .243 used to be able to do most that work as well.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

If you could only have on gun, I'd take a Savage Combo. 20 GA Shotgun and .223 rifle in one gun. It is a single shot gun, built like an OU. The top barrel is the rifle and the bottom barrel is the shotgun. Put a nice scope on it and you can take anything out there.

yeah but the 223 is not enough gun for big game legally in this state

I'll take Caliber .30, of 1906 thanks.  Likely chambered in a Winchester Featherweight.  Depends on how badly I'm going to be treating it...I'd TAKE my 1951 version...or my late 1990s Stainless Classic in the compost stock.  Both shoot well (and with the same load no less) so its a choice between esthetics or utility....dang...  the 30-06 will take everything from varmints to big bears...anything that walks this or most other continents.  given some of the modern bullet choices..the range is extended even farther...  but i STILL like my pet load...165 grain Nosler Flat Base (anyone HAVE any of those left...my 2000 is almost gone) on top of a charge of H4350 lit with a Winchester LR primer.

Only ONE?  :yike:
A Smith & Wesson Beats Four Aces.

Whatta ya mean I can't have one of each?

What we have here is...Washington Department of NO Fish and WATCHABLE Wildlife.

WDFW is going farther and farther backwards....we need FISH AND GAME back!
