2nd deer tag
« on: June 22, 2010, 10:02:49 AM »
Well got the results and holy /]=.' I got drawn for a 2nd deer.  Only problem is I got it for an area I mistakenly applied for.  Got drawn for Steptoe.  Was thinking of calling WDFW and seeing if anything could be done but the more I thought about it the more interesting it seemed to go hunt an area I know nothing about.  Expand my horizons so to speak.  Don't know much except its over by Colfax.  Gonna start by reviewing GMU boundries and checking my maps to see if I have any of the area and if not get some.  Really gonna be neat starting from scratch.  If anyone familar with the area has any pointers would be great.  How much private vs. public land etc. or anything else

Thanks and good luck to evceryone who drew.

Contact the regional WDFW office in Spokane.  They can give you some landowner contacts.

Tons of private land and very little public.  Should be plenty of farmers that will let you shoot a doe.  Look up S&D Investments in Pullman.  They own a bunch of wheatfields in Pullman and give written permission.  If'n you can shoot a doe on their property you have problems.  Other than that, just take a drive and knock on doors around Colfax and Pullman.  Someone will be more than happy to let you shoot a doe.
