Draw weight/Arrow spine????

I am new to archery and need some help. I am shooting a Diamond Rock with a 29" draw length, 70lb max draw weight, and shooting with a release.  I am shooting Gold Tip 5575's with 100 tip and my bow set @ about 63lbs.  Can I crank up the draw weight to the max (70lbs) without changing to a different arrow?  Or is this a bad idea?  Thanks.

Assuming you're shooting 30" arrows, according to the arrow selection chart on Goldtip's website you should be shooting 7595's (.340" spine) even at 63 lbs.

Having your arrow length would help...
the 5575 is a 400 spine arrow.. some people are going to say that isnt stuff enough, but some of my bows at 70#s I have had a 400 fly real nice out of.

I just measured my arrows and they are 29 3/4" from backe edge of the knock to the front edge of the insert.  As I said before, I am new to this and this is the way I was set up by some people/place that was recommended.  They seem to know their stuff, therefore I didn't question them.  I just don't want to create problems.  If I have to buy new arrows that is what I have to do.

The chart on the Gold Tip box was what got me wondering if I was even shooting the correct arrow to begin with.  I have some Cabelas Carbon hunters(cuz they were cheap) in 65/80(this was what the guy at Cabelas recommended) that are cut a bit longer, and they group right with the Gold Tip 5575's.

On another note...The info I have found makes it sound like there shouldn't be any adjustments (other than sites) as long as I turn the limb bolts EXACTLY the same amount.  Is this true, or am I going to have to have the bow fully tuned again?

If it were me with a 29" draw length and shooting anything above low 60's I'd definitely go with a 340 spine.  If your draw length was shorter you'd probably be fine to cut the arrows shorter, which would stiffen them up.  Anyway. my 

P.S. Just curious, which shop told you the 5575's would be okay?

5575 should be just fine i shoot 29.5" draw and shoot 5575 and my draw weight is 83 lbs and they group just fine and shoot well they are my light setup target arrows

Just ran ya thru archers advantage and you are spined weak at 63lbs. A 7595 at 7O is perfect. I think you may have some broadhead flight troubles with a weak arrow.

My arrow length is 29" and I can generally shoot arrows with a 340 or 400 spine.  I'm lucky and they both seem to work ok for me.  I have my bow set at about 63 or 64 now but will have it in the upper 60s by the time hunting season rolls around.

I bought a Mathews two years ago from Rainer Archery, 29" draw length, 29 3/4" arrrows @ 66 pounds and they sold me 400's with the package. They shoot fine but I was always worried because all the charts say to shoot 340's. I stopped in another Mathews dealer earlier this year & had a drop away installed / tuned and asked them about my 400's and they reassured me with a " perfect"    . My arrows paper tune fine & shoot broadheads great, so I quit worrying about it. If they tune up & shoot good then shoot them. Have someone stand behind you & watch the arrow flight, should be darts.


If I was cranking my poundage up any I would at least check my paper tune. Mike

You need 340 then you can also crank it up to 70lbs if you want. Unless you are shooting FMJs I think you need the 340 spine.

I think you got enough advice , try a group of broad heads at 40 yards if thry group with your field points your fine.
