Will the WDFW act?
« on: June 30, 2010, 10:14:29 PM »
IF and I know at this point it's still a big IF, if the turkey hatch is as bad as it's looking, will/should the WDFW do something to limit the hen harvest this fall?  They just liberalized the fall harvest WAY too much in my opinion, even for good hatch years.  I mean for years we have been hearing the regs come out so late so they can assess where the population of a species is before the season.  I for one would like to see some action on their part before the fall harvest.

that would mean the wdfw would actually do somrthing benificial for game... and lose money. doubt that will happen. besides it would require common sense so they are out...

As I have said many times before....powers to be at WDFW would be elated if you guys killed every last turkey out there.  No science here....just too damn lazy to manage properly.....that requires work.  Nuisance complaints....too busy to PR landowners...just shoot em all, hopefully that will take the heat off.

Over time...if seasons remain this liberal....including the taking of two birds in the spring on the same day, coupled with either sex and hen seasons during the fall.......there very well could be a price to pay down the road.  If that were to happen.....you'll never see releases again based on some sky is falling, we had too many problems, they were not here when Columbus landed on the other coast, eco-nut, I hate invasive species mentality.

You know it a personal choice how one hunts and how many birds he takes legally, but one can choose to not play WDFW's game.  Shoot only gobblers during the fall.....and never shoot mature hens....like the one leading the flock.  They are veteran producers.  Don't kill two birds at the same time in the spring.  It's your resource....you can do things to counter what WDFW would hope you do...shoot the piss out of them.

WDFW is not going to make seasons more conservative no matter how bad production is...at least not with the crew that in Wildlife Management at the moment.  Food for thought..... :twocents:

Totally agree, and I already practice those things.
