Dungees vs. Rocks
« on: July 02, 2010, 03:40:06 PM »
So crabbing is pretty good and we are hauling in red rocks and dungeness with easy limits. I kept a limit of red rocks and my buddy gave me some crap for it. I personally like the red rocks, what do you like? :dunno:

The "Rock" is a little bit sweeter with most of the meat in the claws  The dungenest are just a great all around eating crab

Agree completely. When I was stationed on Whidbey Island we did a lot of crabbing. I LOVED the Redrock. Of course, the Dungeness were great too and certainly gave ya more meat per crab. But nothing beats the sweet Redrock IMO.

Agreed, I've always kept both species. I also agree that the Red Rocks are sweeter.

I don't keep the rocks unless they're B&C size.  Not much meat, and the super hard shells are a pain to clean.  You can eat most of a dungy without using crackers.
