Newbie looking to learn-not looking for your secret spot!
« on: March 06, 2008, 04:18:09 PM »
Great site here!
I see alot of people that seem to really know what they're doing and I'm not one of them.
I am thinking about going out in the next two weekends to look and wonder if I could connect with someone who is more tuned in to shed hunting.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
UPDATE
I am planning on a day trip to Eastern WA...probably Ellensburg.
Anybody going out on Friday?
I would just like to tag along and see how you do it.
Thanks,
Dan

Well, I'm pretty new here too, but...
I think the most important thing is to quit reading hunting-washington and go outside and look for some sheds! Follow a game trail or something and keep your eyes on the ground. I, my friend, and his family go out to the desert unit or surrounding area and just wander around and what do you know, we have found several. No really good ones yet, mostly small and old 2-3 pointers, but... I think the main idea is to go to a place that deer live and start looking.

Thanks, Coyote.
I went to Tanaeum two Fridays ago and saw a ton of scat and small deer herd. No sheds but two cougar kills.
Came home with some bones for my 4 yr old.
He thought that was pretty cool.
No luck with sheds, maybe area was picked already.
Still need reliable elk area.
I don't expect people to volunteer their secret spots.
Thanks and good luck to everyone.

OK, realistically is it worth it to go or just a mass of pushy people?
I've never been and not in the mood to fight for something.
This is supposed to be fun and relaxing.
Any help appreciated.

Never been to Oak Creek, I usually just tromp around in the hills looking for sheds but Ive heard that there are people that take it way too seriously there and will literally sprint to a shed that you might have seen first. Not very relaxing if ask me lol
