My 11 year old cousins steelhead
« on: July 25, 2010, 08:58:37 PM »
My uncle hooked this fish and handed the rod to my cousin. He tried to hand the rod back because he was getting worn out but we made him reel it in with no help.Took him about 15 minutes and his dad couldn't of been more proud.

Thats a nice looking stealhead, and the litte one looks very excited.  Good catch and great way to ensure he stays hooked into fishing.

I've only been fishing a few times now and asked my uncle why he set us up with the smallest rods on the river,he laughs and says because its more sporting and all you need.

He is hooked for life no question about it.He stayed focused for two long days and didn't want to leave without a fish.

A nice fish.  He will always remember that one.  I tried that with my 7 year old.  He was getting wore out then he finally just let go of the rod.  I had to dive for it before my rod disappeared.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

SWEET! That IS one tiny rod! That is really cool, I bet him & Dad were both pumped! Check out this pic of my son's first steelhead - a 24# nate! He got it in 2008 one week before his 8th birthday. He is ruined for life now since that one will be hard to match... That little turkey - first time ever steelhead fishing and he pulls that one out - we were side drifting and he says "hey, I think there is something on here..." Boy was there ever!
I aint superstitious - cuz its bad luck!
