My hunting buddy drew a MFA bull tag here last year. Hunted the whole week. Seen 1 bull, never came close enough for a shot. There was snow on the ground 1 day , rained a few days.

What kind of hunt do you want to do? Also do a search for Rimrock.

i love the rimrock unit! but most the times a memeber with 1 post will not do good on here if the first thing they ask for is were to hunt and do you know about this unit etc. people just get info and never show up again so don't expect to get grate results with you first post. there is a intro page that you can tell us more about yourself post some hunting stories and photos etc and you will find a lot of great help around here but you got to chip in and let us get to know you before most will give good advise. i had the archery tag last year and my buddy i hunted with had his wife with a modern bull tag and son with a cow tag up there. i know area i hunt up there pretty good and my buddy knows it like that back of his hand! i would not be afraid 2 help out a bit but you need to put some time in. welcome to the site :hello:

My cousin drew that tag last year - his dad told me that they were in bulls every day and some really nice ones and my cousin apparently missed a bull that was near 380" mark. Here is a pic of the bull he ended up taking.

well trust im no rookie. anyhow this is an archery tag. i took a 270 class bull last year at 22 yards . its not the bigget but a bull anyhow. Ive been up in the unit 4-5 times already have cams up but the army core of engineers had my road up to section 3 lake closed off til this last weekend where i had the cams so i could check them im just trying to see if i should go further south in the unit. me and my buddy are both pretty good callers.

we got to do very very little scouting because of the fire that came threw last year had a lot of area i wanted to scout in closed :bash:
no one is going to call you a rookie we don't know ya but you are a rookie on here :chuckle: you guys should do alright i would go way back towards conrad medows to the dark timber and get back in there a ways and if you guys are good callers you should do alright in there.

I had a muzzle permit a few years ago. Crazy weather did not help. Snow, rain, wind, hail and everything else. I hunted 3-5 miles back from the road and was into bulls every day. Had my chances but did not connect.

I got drawn for rimrock archery this year also. I am more familiar with the bumping and cowiche units. Will be scouting a day or two this weekend. I am partial to hunting the thicker timber myself, and from what I have seen and heard so far it is rough country.

I Love the Rimrock Unit, it's my back yard!  Conrad definitly, hike or horseback in:) Section 3 gets alot of traffic during bow season, I go up  just to see if they are doing well and there are trucks everywhere. (Never have seen them with any elk) There is a trailhead at section 3 that takes you over to conrad, long hike.

I will be leaving Friday for the area. Have a spot lined up to camp, just have to see if I can fit my trailer in there. Two weeks elk hunting with A/C and a shower to come back to is going to be rough. :chuckle:
