Who can't take it?
« on: August 07, 2010, 08:59:59 AM »
Alright I can't take it anymore who else is completely caught up in their special tag this year? I can't keep my mind off it!  where I'll go first, what I'll do at the moment of first sight, how I'll deal with certain obstacles, ect. I have tried curbing this excitement with spending more time in the hills and checking traim cam, talking to locals but to be honest I think it's making things worse  :bash: I can't even drive down the road without drifting off in fantasy land  :chuckle: and oh my god there is another situation where the last thing on my mind should be hunting elk but I'll be damned there it is again!  :chuckle: :chuckle: I love the feeling of having a bull tag but I didn't realize how overwhelming it is!   Tell me what your doing to curb you enthusiasm?  :hello:

I WENT TO DICKS SPORTING GOODS LAST NIGHT AND GOING TO CABELAS TOMORROW. MY BOW IS ALL TUNED UP, ARROWS BOUGHT, JUST WAITING FOR THE SEVENTH. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

Scott,

I am going to hunt with you the first couple of days and call for you if that is ok. I still have a full elk in the freezer from last year. Would rather help you get your bull since you are not holding out for a trophy. I have the time I can wait and hold out. But just get ready I am known to call them into top pin range.

I am there. I am constantly thinking about the hunt. I wake up and look at this site. Thinking about it at work. Watching the outdoor channel daily wanting to look at photos of elk. Bought the hunting the west book by eastmans. It is consuming me. Working to get in shape.

I can't wait either. I've watched pretty much every hunting video I can get my hands on, getting in shape, studying maps, books, etc. I would recommend any trophy mule deer hunter to watch Mike Eastman's video on field judging mule deer. It's a great tool. Just over a month to go and you can find me in the Hoback.

I just got home from the hospital, my 7th angiogram and 5th coronary artery stent.  Except for the pain in my groin, as soon as the 10lb lifting restriction comes off I am going to try to kill a bear (my wife really wants a rug).  I realize this is the elk forum, but I am relating to the subject.  Thoughts of hunting got me up and walking in the hospital the day of the heart catheterization, and 3 days later I walked my first mile.  I only have about a 12-16" stride, and hunting is my motivator to recover as well and as soon as possible.  I won't be able to get into the wilderness where I know where to find bears, but will be hunting close to roads.

Shedcrazy's sweet color phase pics really got me jazzed up, especially since it's a local bear.  Although my wife wants a shiny black one ...
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
