Leupold Gold Ring 10X42

I am looking to buy some binoculars within the next 6 months.  I want a high end binocular that has very good quality.  But I am unwilling to pay $2,000 for a pair of European glass.  I like the fact that Leupold is made in the USA and they have a great warranty and have some pretty good products.  I've done my research and am looking at these.  So here's my questions:

Does anybody own a pair of these, or knows someone that has a pair of these.  Or have looked through these. (Please explain which).  If so what do you think of them.  Can you list any pros or cons about these optics.  If you didn't like these what would you recommend me getting that is in the $600-$1,000 price range?  What are that binos pros and cons?  Thankyou for any info or advice.  I respect everyones opinions and know that I can get a no BS opinion.

the hd gold rings are a heck of a pair for the $$. they are heavy and the diopiter adjustment is lame, that aside they are as good as the big 3's best from pre hd times.

Thanks high country. I think I'm pretty much set on them for my binos. Has anyone had any experience ethics the vertex razors?

i have about a five year old pair of gold rings  and they are good but heavy. i also have a pair of austrian made carl zeiss that are clearer than any leica or swarovski i have looked at. i paid $300 for them on e bay. dont confuse the commercial zeiss with anything from europe, two different people make each. look for carls products. good luck.

Colockum, did you get a pair of goldrings yet??? I am also considering getting a pair... the cabelas archery catalog has them for $599 and the Swarovskis for $1399 on sale...but the goldrings seem like a steal! Let me know how they work out if you got em!!!

I probably will wait until X-Mas to get them.  I did have a chance to look through some the other day and they were AWSOME....  but it was in the middle of the day and I could only look about 100yds because it was in a city.  So who knows?  I'll let you know though.

I love mine but they are heavy. Badlands makes a bino pack and that really helps.

I have the Zen-Ray ED2 10x43 and could not be happier.  I have a swarovski spotting scope and have looked through swarovski 10x42 El's and I would say that in all honesty the Zen Rays to me seem to be about 95% of the swarovskis.

I have a pair of gold rings and a pair of el's.  The gold rings are very good bino's but if you can get a pair of el's I would get them over the gold rings.  The el's are a lot better.  I looked through the zen-rays last year.  My buddy bought a pair right before we went to montana.  After getting to look through the gold rings, el's, and the zen-ray's I wouldn't waste my money on the zen-rays.

Bigshooter - Either you got a lemon or I recieved a good pair, because I compared them on two different occasions at dusk.  The swarovski were better in all aspects, I can not deny that.   The Zen Ray was not far behind and for the cost difference of around $1500 I can't complain

The only question I have about the Zen Ray Binoculars are how long will they hold up?  So far so good.

Im probably gonna end up going with the Gold Rings, but how is the warrenty with the Zen's? The reason i love leupold so much is that its 2hrs away and they have a lifetime warrenty.
