A buddy of mine is flying out sometime after Christmas and I am looking for the best choices of rivers and guides to set Us up with so my east coast buddy will be able to get into some fish.I dont care what river just looking at the best overall odds.Steelhead or salmon or both.

Thats who I would recommend. Just went out with him on the cowlitz 2 weeks ago and did a half day afternoon trip. The four of us landed 6 nice steelhead. Very reasonable prices too. It was $75 per person.

Do You have any suggestions for the peninsula..I was kindof hoping to but him into some outstanding scenery those streams.Plus the way i understand it Jan-Feb provide some real good fishing over there.
If nothing else I bookmark Mystical Legends. For future use.
Thanks

I was going to say go to the peninsula for a better experience other than the fish. Bob Ball is a good one.

The whole experience is what Im looking for.I use to take my drift boat over there and fish.Man it was always awesome.
The fishing is outstanding..The sites are breath taking..
But in January or febuary..It still should be good for the big ones(The Nate's).
What do You think..Would it be better to put it off till spring?

If you watch the flows and time it right January can be great for both hatchery and wild fish. You can't beat March either. Longer days and good opportunity to C and R some nates. The problem is having the conditions right when he comes. You have a better chance in March for that. If he could fly out on short notice that would be optimum but difficult to do. The Queets is great because if it's punched there's always the Salmon and if nothing else a pile of elk to see in the park along the road.

For the Forks area Id call Bob Ball or Larry Scott.
PiscatorialPursuits.com
or Westsideguide.com

Both extremely good fisherman. Larry is a hoot to fish with too.

I have fished with Larry Scott over the years and have had outstanding success with him.

All good info. Another vote for Bob Ball if you are going to the Oly Pen. Lots of great rivers to fish in the Forks area. As mentioned before those rivers are greatly affected by weather events so you just have to book your trip and hope for the best. One nice thing about the Cow is it is dam regulated so unless we have a major event it tends to remain fishable. That being said any of those options would be a great experience for your friend.

A trip on the Quinault with Phil Marten JR would be fun it has some great hatchery programs and is a beautiful river and without the big crowds.

I have fished with two different Quinault guides and never hooked a fish. One guide showed up hours late and I had a tire flattened while parked. Never again will I fish there!
