Gettin' the itch!
« on: August 15, 2010, 10:02:42 AM »
Well went out bear hunting and elk scouting yesterday.  Ended up running into a very impressive bull with five cows and three calves.  We had a stare off at about 35yrds for a few minutes until he winded me and took off.  Two of the cows and calves ended up walking right in front of me as well.  About a half mile away I ran into another bull (didn't get a great look at the rack but didn't look half bad).  Both bulls were velvetless.  Needless to say I am so ready for the season to come around.

I can't agree more. I remember a few years back myself and two hunting partners mountian biked in 18 miles to camp and then I took a nice 5x5 bull on the 2nd day. The only problem was that it was an other 4 miles out side of camp. While we were packing out (all of our gear and the elk) I looked at my friends and said "can you believe we do this *censored* on our vacations" while some people are drink Mi-Ties on the beach this is what we call an awesome vacation. It will forever go down as one of my favorite vacations ever...

Is it September yet?  I was looking at the moon phases.  The moon isn't full until September 23rd.  The new moon starts on September 8th!  I like that.

That is perfect.  We are supposed to be getting a cooling trend starting later this week too.  It's driving me nuts, can't wait.  Even heards some animals starting to talk in the lower elevations.    Bows dialed in and ready to go.

If you don't agree with this you don't belong on this forum.  This is the one time of year where nothing else matters, get in the woods and get em fellas. :rockin:

Totally agree.  The best "vacations" of my life have been spent sitting under a tree in the rain next to my Dad eating a soggy meatloaf sandwich.  It was miserable but there is no other place I would rather be..

Amen!   I've been in some of the crappiest weather and places on this planet in conditions the least hospitable with my Dad at my side, and quite frankly, I'd trade it for sitting at this desk anytime.
