The one caveat to what I said is, maybe a cougar.  If I already had a cougar rug, and I shot another one, I might consider saving up for a lifesize...

I went with shoulder.  I like how they look and it doesn't take up too much room.  Like the whole animal thing, but for me it would have to be like a world record animal and I would need a mansion of a house to put it in.

Have never taken a true trophy.  If i get on and it was a great hunt experience I would consider mounting.  Tougher problem is getting the wife to let me hang it in the living room...

The deer I got this year is my biggest to date. I have never shot anything worth mounting prior to this year. I think my wife was more excited about dropping it off at the taxidermist than I was. LOL

You're a lucky dude Jeep.  My wife has sequestered all my mounts to a single room.  Oh well, at least I don't have to hang them in the garage...

Horns on a plaque(do it myself), pay for bear rug with head, and cougar rug head.  All my stuff is one room as well :-(  if I get a small buck or if I get another bull smallest one will come out of the room and go on the barn.

I said shoulder mount or rug. But When It came time for my cougar to get mounted it was life size all the way to the bank.

Depends on so many things.  We used to do just antler mounts on most of our lesser deer, trophys get a shoulder mount,  my elk got a European mount on account of finances, size of bull, and room in the house.  This year we are having a lamp made out of two sets of antlers, mine and my husbands.  My daughter got an antler mount of her big two point.  Our nephew is doing a shoulder mount of his permit draw whitetail and our son a self done european mount of his permit draw whitetail.  If I got one of those tiny critters in Africa (dikers or whatever) I'd do a lifesize.  Rug for a bear with good hair, I'd like to do a lifesize of a cougar someday.  I just couldn't put just one answer but if you needed to know what we did the most of it is just antlers on a plaque.  Since you don't have a choice for that I didn't vote.

most get antler unless it has a sentimental value then? you know.

I like the shoulder mount for the antlered animals.  But if it was a cougar I would be going for the fullbody mount!
