For sustainability and maintenance purposes I have been considering moving to a photo gallery and forum software which is licensed by Invision Power Board. This is a pay per license setup. The interface is somewhat similar but not the same as what is here today. I'll be looking to conclude a decision probably later this year. Hopefully after November.
This software has almost every feature we have now. Except it is better maintained. A lot of what we have today is cobbled together and features added onto the main system become unmaintained. Thus have to be cut out when we do upgrades. Upgrades are done often times for major bug fixes or security releases for our current board software.
For IPB Optional add ons exist for blog and content management. Content management might be a useful addition for long term administration however I am not currently looking for those features.
The user interface for their boards is like this. But can be customized for color and logos to look like a hunting site.
