high buck help

okay, I'll start with, yeah I should've scouted/researched/etc...

but I wasn't planning on having a partner so I wasn't planning on doing the high buck.
Then today I acquired a partner.... So with such a short time left (probably won't be able to make much for scouting trips), could anyone offer me any decent areas to try to make a plan for? We're both probably 7 mile in and 3-4k feet elevation people.

You will need to get higher than 3000 or 4000 feet if you want a good chance at filling your tag.  There are mostly just does right now at that low of an elevation.

7 miles in is a good start.  Anything less and you should plan on having company.

I could be wrong but I thought uncoolperson meant they would GAIN 3000-4000 feet in elevation on their 7 mile hike in. If I lived in Bellingham, I think I'd head due east and hunt the Pasayten. If you get in 5 to 7 miles, you will be farther than most hike in hunters and not as far in as many of the drop camps.

yeah, 3-4k was my estimated keeping well inside our capabilities.... could do more but it wouldn't be pleasant.

I was doing some reading on the pasayten, gotta look over some topos/trails/read up some.

Last week I saw groups of doe's at +6,500', and that wasn't quite in the Pasayten. Young bucks around 5,000'.

I could use a little help too. I think I know where I want to go. Honestly haven't been there yet. But I figure that this is the best time to scout/hunt it. If I'm not successful then I've got knowledge of where not to go for next year. If I am successful, none of ya'll will know where I went.

If I die up there, then I'll have been doing something I love to do.  Sounds like a win win situation.

If your in great physical condition! Try up the White river in Thunder Basin-Lots of bucks. Very physical hunt though.
