Ok, now I'm really getting ticked. A friend had a CO2 bullet dislodger and it did NOT work.  Just blew air around the bullet.  I think I'm going to have to take the damn thing to a gunsmith just to get the dad gum bullet out.

I dont know where four lakes is  :dunno: but if you are some what close to the Tacoma area, there is a black powder gun smith in Puyallup on River Road.  Maybe you can make a day trip, drop off your ML, enjoy the fair, and pick up the rifle on your way home.   :dunno:  Its an idea.  Hope you get it figure out...hunting season is just right around the corner.

What are you doing with a new muzzle when you have that pretty new bow itching for a chance? :tung:

So what kind of gun is it?
It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.

I will not be hunting with my new bow this year, I'm not going to be ready, still trying to get it tuned properly and I'm not consistent enough to hunt with it yet.  :(

So what kind of gun is it?

.50 cal CVA sidelock percussion cap.  I'd have to double check on the model.

CVA?  That explains it!   :chuckle:  My ex had a CVA .50 that misfired so much that we ended up stripping the nipple threads.

Good luck!

The CVA's have a Nock's breech and you can not get a patch all the way down to the bottom of the barrel as the breech plug hs a recess in it that the drum is threaded into.  After cleaning and your patches are coming out dry pump a dry patch up and down so your sucking air in and out though the nipple and then fire a few caps to clear the drum and Nock's chamber.  The drum is threaded through the Breech plug so it has to be removed befor the breech plug can be removed.  I have three older CVA Mountian rifles, 2 percussions and one flint and they are very reliable and accurate if cared for correctly.

Here's a drawing of the Nocks style breeech.

Thanks AWS, this is my third CVA and the other two were always reliable.  Thanks for the diagram.

Nipple was open and clear, powder was a brand new can, opened on site and poured directly into a flask, and then right into powder measurer.  Caps were brand new german musket caps and fired off.  It has to be the gun.  Powder was dry, caps were good and the nipple was open.  What I couldn't do after I pulled the nipple was get any powder to trickle down, so I'm assuming there is a blockage from the barrel to the area below the nipple.  Oh and it was loose powder.  I appreciate all the thoughts and suggestions.  Any ideas, other than a C02 cartridge for blowing out a Barnes TMZ?

I got a bullet stuck once so took the breech plug out and drove the bullet out from the breech end with a dowel.  Worked good.

FINALLY got the bullet out today.  I went to the Spokane gun show this afternoon and got a bullet puller with very distinct threads that really did bite into the bullet.  I cleaned the barrel good and the patches are coming out clean. Popped a cap through and it blew the patch out of the end of the barrel.  Cleaned it some more.  I think it'll be ok.  I'll shoot it tomorrow, but I'm going to shoot a few patched balls through it first to make sure everything is working right, before I try another copper bullet.  :)
