My father and a friend went up to rimrock to look for some elk. Just after daylight my father spotted a Huge cougar bedded down on a hill side sleeping. He watched it for 40 min. before it woke up and looked to hear something in the woods. My father knew our other friend was just behind the cougar somewhere. The cougar he said got up and got into sneak mode and headed into the woods. Thats when my father yelled for our buddy Ron and yelled to him COUGAR!!! It is a scary thing to know you were in the same area as something so big. He said it had to be close to 8 foot long nose to tail. Biggest cougar he has ever seen.  :yike: It was this morning. 9-19-10

We were up tieton road. Just before you get to the airplane landing strip there is a road that heads to the left just before the cattle guard. head up the road about 2-3 miles maybe and they headed out to the right hand side of the road. It was about 1000 yards from the road sleeping on the side of a big gully. there is a clay and dirt canyon in there. the cougar was on the south side of the canyon sleeping under a tree.

sounds like your over near lost lake?  I'm always out there. Guess I need to be more aware of my surroundings now.

oh ya think its 1902 that wraps around and comes out to the south end of the landing strip and changes name to fish creek rd.. my bestie was walking her dogs on fish creek rd when we were walking and saw a coug take down a deer by our camp. later on we went for a walk and saw cat tracks.

Best way to alert your hunting buds is to fire a round to the direction of the Cougar. You never know what else is around you.

I want to hunt with your old man.  Spotting a sleeping cougar is a pretty impressive feat.
