I want to clarify my stand on this photo thing. If a caller/photographer goes out and conducts him/herself as a predator hunter would, then calling and photographing a coyote in lieu of shooting it is okay by me. I can somewhat agree with the photo "before the kill" but the jury is still out on that one as it is still one and the same dog. Then again, if it were a CALLED PAIR and only one is killed then perhaps the .5 point should apply or 1 point for the photographer. Calling in a predator and choosing to not shoot it for whatever reason that person feels comfortable with is, almost as good as a dead dog. Some folks have morals, I don't!  :dunno:

Like I earlier stated, I have an issue with photographing a coyote from 400 yards out, mousing in the field as one is driving through the toolies at 75 mph, that is not calling predators nor is it hunting. I believe all photos should be reviewed by the mods before a half point is applied to that team. Obviously if it is clear and appears to be called then I'm okay with it, not the blurry mass that looks like a dog on the run through the cornfields.

Gary

I would be ok with this, if my judgement calls didn't create arguements.  I know exactly where you are coming from Gary and I agree.  Now that there is a cap on the photo's, do you think we should have a judge, or just try to encourage a higher standard without having an official rule?

This is just for fun.  Some of the pics that have been submitted in the past are when guys are out photographing or at work or whatever.  That is the way it has been the last 2 seasons and no one has complained.  I don't have a problem with photos at all.

Oops, just saw the part about the cap.  That's cool too.  :)

I agree on the cap at minimum. I would also like to see that all photos are at least reviewed or perhaps put up for discussion and if agreed on by say 3 out of 5 members then the .5 point could be awarded to that team. I realize everyone here may not be the killing type and should have that predator counted. I am certain most here would trust your judgement on what a good photo is. It is the obvious ones that I have issue with. Call'em and shoot'em, either with a camera or a firearm, simple as that.

I didn't mean to start a fight I just didn't know that it meant a live photo prior to the shot

The biggest thrill or rush is in the calling and working the coyotes.  We are four days from lock and load. :tung:

A question. Is the cap 10 photos or 10 points?

10 points.

We will try it out with me being a judge on photos.  Let me know what camera you used as well, Since a P&S camera can make a coyote that is 50 yards away look like it is 500.

I suggested to TBradford that we should cap the photo to a max of 10 points.  Last year I submitted many pics of live coyotes and could have taken many many more.  In a way I felt bad that we were hanging right behind the two other successful killing teams, by merely taking photos.   A maximum of 20 photos (10) points should still make it fun for the live picture taking part, but also make it more fair to the long term goal of this contest as I see it.....removing these predators in a friendly contest.  Sorry this seemed to turn out be be a mess TBradford, and thanks again for all you do to make this a fun event for all. :twocents:

MtnMuley, no need to apologize or feel bad, as a matter of fact, I don't even recall even one of your photos, my bad   :dunno:

I just hope this doesn't turn into a can of worms. Just trying to keep honesty and fairness a main part of the game with just a simple clarification before the games begin, the man running this show knows what is fair.

Most of us could have taken boat loads of pictures last year.  The Fun is in the Hunt.  This site and this contest thanks to Tbradford just adds to the fun.  Let's load em up and shoot em up. :guns:

Lets not discourage compeditors from taking pictures while they are on stands, :dunno: it creates a whole new challenge to harvesting yotes to try & pull off both the pic & the kill.   Plus every one here loves to visualize being right there with them when everything come's together into a successful hunt & a photo never hurts.  :chuckle:

No problem at all.  I am always open to suggestions and ways to make the contest better.  The cap was a great idea.  I like to get everything clarified up front too.  That way we have a set of rules and everyone is on the same page.

That is exactly my point, take the photo while on the stand, not in a vehicle driving the highways and back roads.

Pretty simple rule if ya ask me  :dunno:
