Had a tough weekend, missed a couple of really easy shots just jumped the gun on distances  :dunno: Happens I guess. The wind and cold has really played havoc with these dogs, even driving some of the back roads looking for coyotes was a total bust. They must know VV and his trusty 22-250 is on the prowl  :chuckle:

But tonight we struck pay dirt when this fine male came into 148 yards and that is where he screwed up cause I had just confirmed my 200 yard zero on my 6x45. The 58gr V-Max found it's mark just as we were about to loose our light.

Thanks VV for allowing me to put this one on the ground tonight.

Maybe tomorrow we'll find one or two more, we know where they are, we just got to get to them.

Checkin' wind and makin' smoke.
That's how I roll...

Great news Rick, maybe then you and Bofire will make it over to my place this spring so we can test it out a little. We were shooting 600 yards yesterday, the new guy that came over this weekend was in awe shooting at that distance. He never hit the target but he did go back home with a whole new appreciation for Eastern Washington coyote huntin' in the wind :chuckle:

Now that this Madness thing is about over, I'll finally be able to get back into playing with my long range shooter and working up loads for it  :IBCOOL:
Checkin' wind and makin' smoke.

Feeling very OLD right about now no doubt. I have been hung up on more damn barbwire fences this year than any other. Ya know it's hard to out run those angry land owners after sneaking in to shoot a coyuute or two and with a bad hip I'm really getting slow  :llam:

Calling just plain sucked today, They would only come in as far as where they could see the area where we were calling from and sit down and bark. Don't know if they were vocalizing their territory boundaries or what. One must have come from over 1/4 mile and stopped at a old dirt road and wouldn't come any further but started barking and then finally went back. Had another do the same thing but didn't bark just watched. We tried circling 1/2 mile above and calling but no dice. SBS saved the day by getting one that we busted and a drive by.

That is some funny chit right there, I don't care who ya are  :chuckle:

Big10,
You are sooooo right about the responses this weekend, we threw everything we had at them saving pup yips for last and it was slow, real slow. Late this afternoon the 30 mph winds calmed down to around 12-15 mph and the one and only coyote of the day came in to the dinner bell. It was late and darn near dark when he finally showed up and that ended the day. 12 full hours of busting through snow drifts up high so we decided to head down to the lower ground near the creek to try our luck, it worked.

Good job you two, hopefully we can get together for a hunt or two this year, it would be great to meet you all in person.
Checkin' wind and makin' smoke.

Falfire, That would be fun, especially watching you trying to cross those barb wire fences at a dead run while the landowner is taking potshots at you.  :chuckle:

Am going to try one last hunt this afternoon, but this wind is ridiculous.  I have a favorite post from a coyote hunt that was done November 16th on page 24 from TlBradford.  It contained three photos. The post was On the paw, on the ground, and on the porch.  That was great.  Besides those two girls are soooo cute.  Thank you Tl for all your time and effort that you have put into all this.  I hope that all is well with your wife and her pregnancy.
