ammo for 300 weatherby mag
« on: September 23, 2010, 08:21:19 PM »
Hey, I am about to purchase some ammo for my 300 weatherby mag and also a 30-06.  We will be hunting in open area with some trees.  Most likely will be a long shot where we are hunting.  We will be hunting mule deer.  What are your suggestions for brand, size and bullet type

I really have a soft spot for accubonds. They are a partition with a tip basicly. I have had good luck with nosler and Winchester ammo. Federal is another good one. You'll have to see what your guns like.

Ive always shot weatherby ammo. 180 grain partitions. Getting pretty spendy. I have a ton of brass now and I plan on loading some 165 accubonds this time around.

Federal makes plenty of stuff for .300 wby. All 180 grain though I believe. I'm actually loading some weatherby brass fitted with 165 grain Nosler Accubonds and watching some football right now! :chuckle:

Along with Remington, but I'd stick with either Federal Premium or Weatherby.

If you are shooting a Weatherby Mag. then "YES" you have to shoot only Weatherby "BRASS". Out of the .30-06 (before I started hand loading) I used Remington Core Lokt in 150 gr. pointed soft point.
