I was wondering if this was illegal to use. I read the anti-snagging rule and am not sure if this is ok for Drano Lake?

The boat in front of us was rigged up like that and all 4 people got court dates from the game warden. They didn't get tickets just mandatory court dates.

One of the guys we talked to wasn't sure what the court date was for. the game warden told them it would come in the mail.

the benefit.................no weight between the hook and the rod. Extremely more sensitive can feel the smallest of touches and the fish doesnt feel the weight. put the weight above the hook and you lose all sensitivity and the fish feels it.......just my

thats pretty spot on. also more chance for the fish to swim into the hook like that.

Running a smaller lb test to your wieght from the mainline also allows you to break off more easily if you get snagged and not have to re-do all your rigging.

Never fished there, but why is that not allowed (other than tactical advantage)? Thats similar to what most use in other places, especially the columbia.
Mainline to three-way, one goes to your spinner or spin-n-glo or whatever, the other goes down for your dropper. Bait/lure/whatever is above your weight and is legal.
Different rules for different places I guess.

the difference is that a typical trolling or plunking setup will have lead on a dropper or 3-way swivel, this just puts the lead directly below the hook.
real popular setup for snagging fish. guy tosses it out with a 6/0 treble tied a foot or two above his lead and waits for a fish to bump the line.

i watched a guy get a ticket with a spin-n-glo with the weight below the spin-n-glo said it was not allowed with the anti snaggin rule in affect.

I just got checked two weeks ago with this same set-up on at drano and the Warden told me he didnt see any problem with it, as long as I was using bait and wasnt jerking multiple times with each retrieval.
