Nice bull!  Wilderness area is the only way to go, the bulls are virtually unhunted and when you take one it really is that much more rewarding, way to go!!

Dam fine bull, I would rather hunt Idaho than Washington every year, there is a way better chance of bringing a trophy home.

Amen.  Buts it costs way too much $$$$$

Great bull, congrats to you for putting in the hard work in the wilderness. Did you see, or have to fight off any wolves?

congrats, exact reason why i have hunted idaho the last four years and not washington. great bull, have seen a few bulls like that in idaho the last few years but yet to get one that big. was a tough year for locating elk this year due to lack of bugling, how bout you.

Yes, no real bugling to speak of.  I have heard that was because of the wolves, that the elk have gotten smart and are less likely to sound the dinner bell, so to speak.

What did work really well was the hootchie mama, and the cows were pretty vocal.  This guy held steady to investigate our call when we jumped the cows he was with.  He must have thought we were another lady to add to the harem.  oops...

No wolves, but there was evidence (scat) that they had been in the area within the last month or so.  Most of the wolf sign was at lower elevation (4000 ft) than the elk (6300 ft).  Not sure why.
