Average Rug price for a 6'5" bear.
« on: October 03, 2010, 10:36:30 AM »
What would be a reasonable price to pay for a 6-5" bear rug?  I have one in the freezer and trying to decide if I can afford to have a rug made or just throw it away.  If it is to expensive we will just keep the peckerbone as a trophy.  The skull was mush, a chunk of lead through the eyeball was not friendly for the skull.

Thanks

There was a post about this recently about reasonable rug costs. Figure ruffly $150 a linear foot. 150 x 6.5= 975

That will get you in the ballpark. Figure atleast 50% down also.

But im sure there will be a few more on here soon to confirm. Hope that helps, Jay

$150-$170 per foot.

Or you can tan it now and mount it later that'll save money plus your not throwing out a really nice rug. 6.5' bear is a biggy.

Thanks for all the reply's!  Gives me a good ballpark figure.  I talked with a couple taxi's (not from this site) and I thought they were a bit high.  They were but not as much as I thought.  It had been a long time since I had a rug made.  We don't hunt bear to often and usually try to take something under 6 ft.  Better eatin that way.  We thought this guy was smaller than he turned out being.

Probably end up doing something like a dry tan as money is a bit tight to be doing the rug thing.
