Columbia River Sturgeon
«
on:

Whew, I'm wore out, from the long drive and fighting all these fish today.
Ended up landing 28, FOUR keepers on a non-keeper day
One keeper was just a fatty at 53 inches. Also hooked into and got to the boat a 8 foot 9 inch monster that took me 32 minutes from hookset to photos. Arms were burning on that one.

Nice fishing weather. Good lookin fish.
A side note.
The gammies are enforcing the " the don't remove fish from the water if it is not legal to retain them" rule.
Saw it on the Lewis with chinook.

We were legal,
Didn't (Couldn't) remove the oversized fish. All other were released.
Only one single-point barbless hook
and bait is allowed when fishing for
STURGEON. Any STURGEON not to be retained
must be released immediately. Oversized
STURGEON cannot be removed totally or in
part from the water.

If it was a non-keeper day, I am assuming that means you can't "retain" any fish. "ANY sturgeon NOT TO BE RETAINED must be released IMMEDIATELY." This means a sturgeon of any size, whether over-sized or not, should be released immediately if it is not the intention to keep it, no? Probably shouldn't be taken out and handled and photographed before releasing. I don't think that constitutes releasing them immediately...on another note, awesome fish, looks like a ton of fun!
