Well, shot over one, plain missed number 2, but connected on cow #3, I posted my Toutle cow hunt over in the elk section yesterday.  It was a great week of hunting!

I'm going to blame the brush pickers.  They screwed me up more than once during the week. :bash:  That and the big ones (deer) that we scouted out went nocturnal.......
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Didn't offend me either. The reasons I didn't have an animal on the ground are completely of my own doing. Going to fix my mistakes and get back after them for the late season.

I punched my tag on a nice 5 by 5 muley on the 8th evening of muzzy deer season.  I need to post pics this weekend and the story too.

Ok, I have to add some things to what went wrong (besides the dozens of illegal aliens out there screwing up the areas we scouted all summer)...........  The bucks were bedded down somewhere all day long due to the nice weather we were having.  The one day that it actually rained pretty good, I snuck up on a spike but passed on him because of the bigger bucks I'd seen while scouting for the last 8 months and that day my brother found 4 bucks feeding on the edge of a clearcut.  The other days were just too nice and the blacktails were just nocturnal it seems.

Oh, and did I mention the vanloads of illegals out there in the spots that we had picked out that the bucks were using...... :bash:

Anyway, I'm looking forward to late season........may have to just drop a spike.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

What went wrong is lack of time to hunt. The couple of days that I hunted were pleasant, but I didn't see anything.

It ain't over until after late season. ;)

Spike only was my problem. Four days of elk hunting gave me 16 kill shots 50 yards down to 10 feet that included a 6x6, 2- 5x5s, several cows and a few calves and saw several more out to a 100 yards, just never found a spike to pull the trigger. I am not sure if I can keep doing the spike only thing. Right now the only reason I keep doing it is trying to pull a bull tag in a certain area.
