I thought I heard the Forest service was going to be removing tents left or abandoned for any length of time. I'm sure there is a thread on here about that  :dunno:

I think I remember that thread too, it pertained to the Blue Mountains I believe. But I suppose they could be following the same policy throughout the state. Maybe they should check with the Forest Service at the Cle Elum Ranger District office (in Cle Elum.)

that was me and yes it was the blues as that is where i am but i would suppose it could be statewide, call the district ranger as they are apparently the only ones who do the extended stay permits. i had pretty quick turn around once i got ahold of him. stick with it as i would guess they are pretty busy right now to

Ya it wasnt the forest service that did it, cause all the rest of there stuff was left. Its a fairly big camp, I guess locals say they been havin problems with crack heads up there. But i have read that thread before, but before there never has been a problem. People just cant manage to leave crap alone. sucks

a few years back one of my friends setup a whole camp for the labor day weekend and had everything stole. Cabelas outfitters tent, cots, sleeping bags, lanters, coolers, everything :bash:. when he got there it was like he had never set it up even the fire wood was gone. This was in Pend Oreille county.

sometimes I leave my tent/camp for a day or two. Aside from wall tent, I lock most gear up in the utility trailer, aka cook shack when un loaded.

also I put up two trailcams...just in case pics or video are needed.

Very smart Idea with the trailcams that is for sure. as log as they are in a spot that wont attract the tweekers.

But on a different thread, it seems like some of our members feel that if it is left unattended on public land, it is public property . :bash:

Nothing like twisting the context of the other thread.  LOL!!!

The other thread was if you put up a tree stand for over a month and some one is in the stand?  It was stated that when you put up a tree stand it is first come use and it is law that if it is up over a month it is considered abandoned.   Right / Wrong or otherwise... You need to manage your expectations.  Having said that this has nothing to do with someone stealing your tent.

I guess I will stay off this topic, I just get frustrated by all the complaints about people getting their stuff stolen/messed with, and then hear others with the attitude that, "hey it was on public land"
"if you sleep with dogs, you are bound to wake up with a few fleas".....

We had the forest service checking our camp in Goose Prairie in early archery season.  They are serious about the 14 days.  FYI, we were 7 miles in by foot.

yeah that little thing called a JOB that so many Tweakers and other thieves dont have/need cuz they STEAL FROM OTHERS.  I'll second the disappearing...

tho I HAVE figured out how to Hex wood thieves...bore out a smallish piney log about 1" in dia about 4" through the heart after trimming a 1" piece off the end to trim for a plug...pack the cavity full of the Holy Black (FFFFg works well) and CAREFULLY drive the plug home...then trim off excess with chainsaw to make it match.  put blue tree marking paint on the side and set it in the wood pile when you leave camp for the day...NOT right on top..but just down in the pile.  Be sure to remove it when you come back for the evening.

IF your woodpile has grown legs...Just sit back and relax...someone's day will get INTERESTING...and there is your wood thief.
