Well I didn't have any luck locating a shooter buck up the Entiat this weekend, but I did have an interesting encounter with a hungary doe. As I worked my way up a heavily timbered ridge I spotted this doe about 50 yards uphill watching me. As I stood there watching her for about 3 minutes I realized she was in no hurry to leave so I decided to keep hiking toward her. I walked to within 10 feet of her and she didn't move. Thinking this was a Kodak moment, I knelt down and got my camera and a sandwich out of my pack. I tore off a piece of bread and held out my hand and she came walking right to me! I spent about 5 minutes feeding this doe my sandwich while taking pictures. For whatever reason I couldn't get her to eat the meat.

After the feeding I packed up and continued my hike peering back occasionally to see the deer standing where I left her.

Had a similar situation yesterday/today. Had a doe/fawn hang around my blind for well over 5 ours yesterday, no matter what type of stupid thing I did, they would stay. More does ended up coming in to the area (6 in all), maybe 20 yards away until the light ran out. Today the same doe/fawn showed up, I needed to check out the area behind them so I slowly walked within 15 feet of them to the nearby greenbelt... no worries. Had to walk back out a similar way, same thing... aside from predators, I have a feeling they know theyre untouchable

Ok remember you now. Nope, didn't shoot anything last year. I set my sights high and passed on a lot of deer looking for "the big one" which I never found. As for the ass chewings...well i've been on the receiving end of a few of those myself

Forgot about this picture. This was taken in 1996 up the Entiat after the massive snowfall we had. The sow was shot and killed by another hunter a week earlier so this guy was left to fend for himself. There were actually 2 cubs and they both pestered us for days. One of the cubs got ahold of my pack and I had a tug of war contest with him. They are very strong for there size! We contacted the F&W and told them about the cubs and their response was basically let nature take its course. Unlikely they survived on their own

I will have to try and dig out some old pictures had one up on by Randall, come over and eat three tapicoa puddings and then commenced to walk beside me like a pup for about 3 miles in.

Realy cool pics!!! I wish that I could have gotten pics of the forky blacktail that was sniffing the bottom of my boot with estrus scent on it as I sat with my back to a tree and my legs covered with ferns and leaves. I also had a 2 point mulie shaddow me step for step at about 40 yards for close to 1/2 mile during late archery. I did get pics of him. I'll have to see if I can find em.

as kids we would go to the islands in summer one of the islands is tiny and a park and it had deer who liked to eat marshmallows from your hand my grandparents house might still have pics. I know when grandma and grandpa spent the summer as fire lookouts way up in the middle of nowhere they had a doe take up residence like a pet dog.

This thread sparked a conversation between my father and me... he also had a similar encounter hunting on White's Pass: a gentleman was driving down the road, stopped and said "check this out! There'll be a doe coming around the corner here in a few minutes... she's been following me for the past 40 minutes! She likes Snickers, too!" Sure enough, a few moments later this doe came trotting down the dirt road. They fed it a mini snickers, put a company hat on its head and my father draped his arm around it for a photo. The gentleman was going to send the photo (my father didn't have a camera) but it never surfaced. Still very neat nonetheless!

I have a pic taken at lake Walowa(sp) in Oregon of a Mulie buck (I think a 3X3) with its head in my cooler as I'm trying to put stuff into it. Just wish my scanner worked.

Those are awesome pics & stories. strange thing happend to me hunting in Vermont, a doe would not leave me even after i shooed her away, She kept right on tagging along behind me. After more than an hour of this i finally made it back to my truck and headed for home with her in my taillights. Just thought it was a crazy lonely deer...
