Though not mine! Yet!

So as some of you know, I am a new guy to this. And I got thrown in to the wolfs with opening weekend at Vail.
Though, to be honest, yeah there was a LOT of road hunters, I was expecting it to be worse then it ended up to be. I had a blast laying in the dirt looking for antlers in the clear cuts.
Saturday, we managed to get in line at about 2:30 and we were about 7 cars back from the start. The worse part of the day was trying to sleep in the back seat of the truck meant for children. Damn chevy for not thinking!

Anywho, after the NHRA style race from the line. We managed to find a cool place with a couple draws coming to a flat part with some clumps of trees mixed in to the clear cut. And I managed to see 1 doe, my gf dad saw 8 in the same place as the one I saw. Then till about 11 we hit the road to look into a lead of a good hunting place. After that didn't pan out like we were told, we decided to do some scouting. So we drove around till about 3 and wound up back to were we started, just a little bit higher up on a hill over looking where we were in the morning. Still nada. So we left about 6ish. And the whole time Rob *gf's dad* was saying he wasn't coming back Sunday because he was leaving for a trip that night and he has a problem with his foot that makes it really hard to walk through the clear cuts and go up hills. But as we were driving out we saw some places that made him change his mind.
Sunday came around, we left his house at 5am and got to vale just before shooting time. We park the truck and go off in our ways. I found a stump on a steep hill that over looked a flat cleared out piece of land with a stand of trees to my left. And I sat behind the stump for about 3 hours, dosing off and only seeing some really pretty birds and rain drops from the morning dew falling from the bushes and trees. Making me think big bucky is around me.

Mean while I hard 3 shots from my right. Well after some time passed, and I was getting ancy sitting. I decided to head off in that general direction to see if anyone got anything and to see what was around the bend. So I start heading off, doing some looking around and scouting. I happen to turn on a road that was lined with trees and to my left was a clear cut. so I glass through the openings of the trees. Nada, so I carry on. One thing leads to another I happen to meet up with my other hunting partner Rob's best friend Ben being taken back to his truck by another very nice hunter. And Ben told me that Rob got a Very Nice 4x5 buck just down the road. So I wander down there and low and be hold there he was in mid gutting. Man was it cool! Ive never seen a deer that close, never been part of the process.

See, for some reason Rob decided to make his way to a null in the middle of a clear cut. He was actually a sleep when he was awoken by Ben trying to shoot at a spike, but due to a fall he took earlier knocked his scope out of wack. And Rob saw Bucky Jr. as it is called now just feeding in the clear cut, just like any other day. So he took aim right in the chest and he dropped right in his place. Whats kinda odd is that none of his organs were damaged and as far as we can tell, neither was his spine. So whatever he hit. Made him drop instantly. Another cool thing is that he managed to drop him about 50' from a road that he didn't know was there till he got to the deer. Which made retrieval much easier for him and us.
So here are the pics!
