One story so far, looks like we may have a winner come late season.

Well, we still have quite a few days left in the month.  Maybe, they're still writing their hunting stories!

Wow what a way to give back to the future of our national hunting heritage. Way to pass it on to the future of our hunting sports next generation.  :mgun:

Late season here on the westside starts tomorrow, get some more stories up here if you are successful and we will decide at the end of the month. Good Luck to all the youngsters out there.

Hi my name is Quinten. I’m ten and I got my first deer this year. Where I got my deer was up in Oreville WA. We got permission from my dads friend Dave.

The first day we went out we left really early in the morning.  We hiked a huge hill in the dark.  It was so steep that my dad carried my gun up for me and I fell down a few times.  But when we finally got up and it turned light out we were surrounded by hunters.  Dave seen bucks in there, but all we seen were does.  I wasn’t too happy because Dave said it was a really good spot and the other hunters were trespassing.  We also went walking around the mountain looking for deer but didn’t see any bucks.

That afternoon we went out searching for deer in another spot and came up dry.  All we saw was one doe.  I was bummed.

On day number two we drove through an orchard and climbed a lot of fences on Dave’s land.  It was early, cold and dark. We got up on a mountain and seen a bunch of bighorn sheep.  It was awesome!  So finally we went to the top of this canyon and I didn't think we would find a deer.  But then we seen this three by four on the skyline but there is a barn on the other side so we can’t shoot.  So we move around and try to find a place that we can shoot.  We scared the sheep and the deer and the deer ran up to a rocky mountain.  We finally get behind a big rock that we can shoot from.  It took me seven shots to finally get him down.  I thought I didn’t hit him, but we climbed the mountain and found him dead behind a bush.  I hit him four out of the seven times I shot.  It was a great time with my dad.  It’s a moment I will never forget.  I think hunting is a rush and exciting.  You never know what you are going to see.  I really want to hunt a lot with my dad now.

Quinten, congratulations on taking such a nice deer, way to hang in there and get the job done. And four out of seven is more than 50%. So good for you.  A couple more days and we will pick a winner, just make sure your dad gets that in the freezer so it stays while we decide.

Thanks
Joe
