stupid question

I keep reading/hearing hunt blacktails in the crappiest weather possible.... what's the reasoning behind that?

They cannot hear you sneak in, they cannot hone in on your odor with swirling irregular winds.....they cannot see your movement from so much brush whipping in the wind.

Remember the movie Predator?

BTs are more relaxed and wander out into the open in unstable weather. Just don't tell anyone else about it.

And for what it's worth - the weather we're having is $*%&@ nasty!  I hunted two hours yesterday...spent another four hours getting my clothing washed & dried, my pack dry, etc.     Crazy weather but a lot of bucks hit the dirt when the sideways rain sets in.

I live in western washington, I rarely wander outside without my snorkle

We always figured they were more out in the open because they did not like to have the wet branches and stuff pushing against them and soaking through their waterproof layer.  Same for the elk, always more visible in the rain, not necessarily crazy swirling winds though.

Another really weird thing,
 I have been surprised countless times (you would think I would learn !) walking back to my vehicle by deer bedded out in the open,
 and I mean grass patches in the middle of clear-cuts, that I was just walking through as a "shortcut".
not paying attention because I had hunted hard through all the nasty stuff w/o seeing anything and was heading to a different spot, or back to camp to dry out.
