Sorry i don't have a picture, but i didn't have time to take it. Writing this is my therapy... I was up scouting yesterday for the western opener next week and at just about 8 O'Clock i saw a a bull that was 9x9 . I have been scouting for months now and this is the first visual sign of elk other than tracks in the area. People have been telling me that the pigs are up here but i was beginning to doubt them and wondering if i had been waisting my time (its my 1st time hunting this area, its all private land that i finally got permission for). As i am sitting there watching the big daddy, out jumps a 8x7 and a 6x6 followed by about 10 cows. Oh how i wish it were opening day yesterday! I guess that i am writing this because i am somewhat depressed that i have to wait a week at which point i can only hope that they will still be there! I wonder what the odds are that they will be?
The elk in the Mashel dont stay in hancock they make a big loop up 264th then they head south to 304th then they follow that all the way down to hancock. We see them about every 8 weeks like clockwork unfortunately they came through 2 days after muzzy season this year.
