Looking to explore unit 407.
« on: November 04, 2010, 07:01:18 PM »
Well it comes down to this! I was unable to tag a muley in 224. I tried hard for a blacktail in 448 and 460. I will have 1 day....maybe 2 days to hunt in 407 during the late blacktail modern hunt. I am pissed because my google earth aint working! I think I will start in the SE corner of the unit this Saturday and work my way north from there. I am hoping to find someplace suitable for the late hunt. I will be armed with an atlas, my bike, and my .270 incase I see a bear! I have no problems finding my own place to hunt...BUT! I would not mind a point in a general direction....Im thinking the farthest I would possibly make it on Saturday would be Mount Vernon.....I am not giving up just yet! :chuckle: :chuckle:

I have attached a picture of the only Blacktail I have seen shot. It was taken by my Dad with me at his side, in 1986. I started packing the next year. Talk about a great way to start a hunting career! Ive been hooked ever since!
