The best hunt..rifle, bow or ML?
« on: November 05, 2010, 05:53:19 PM »
OK I am throwing the question out there. Which hunt do you think is the best?  Make sure you way all the options before making your decision .. weather, rut, hunting pressure, success rate, camping, amount of work, etc.

I got into archery to get away from all the yellow rain slickers (this was before 400 square)
As soon as I left the crowds behind, I saw more animals, and harvested more animals, but the season was different,
I wish we (Archers) could still hunt the first week of Oct. for Elk.

That's just like asking what is better... Ford, Chevy or Dodge. We all know Dodge is the best, but some guys have different opinions :chuckle:

Thank you to those of you who have replied already.  If I had to guess I would say bow is going to be the over all winner, although it's too early to say.  I have not tried bow hunting yet, mostly because I have had luck rifle hunting, haven't purchased a bow yet and recently decided to try my luck with the ML hunting.  I thought about it the same way jimmy did, and have decided to go with the season that gives me the most days.  Yes, I have had luck with rifle hunting but it just goes by so fast and then its over. ML season gives me more time to balance work, family and hunting, although I guess bow hunting does the same.  I am hoping to get a better idea of what I want to focus on in the years to come.  Thanks again for the replies!  Good luck to all of you rifle hunters on the west side tomorrow!!  Save some elk for us late season bow and ML hunters :)
