Blacktail Rut
« on: November 07, 2010, 09:10:34 PM »
Saw a nice Blacktail Buck tonight scent checking a doe (with a fawn) this evening.  The doe spooked and ran off a ways and then went back to feeding.  Any one else seeing signs of the Rut?

It's been on for a couple of weeks around the Rainier/Yelm/Tenino area.  I've seen over a dozen ducks lately with their noses to the ground or right up in some doe's business.  I damn near hit a 3x4 at Mackintosh Lake at 2:00 in the morning last week that was aggressively pushing a doe across 507.  A 3 point has been around my place chasing does at all hours of the day and attacking my daughter's 3-D buck target.

Maybe i should see if the state will let me use my Skokomish rut tag in a unit that deer are actually rutting in :bash: :bash: :bash:

Is this area open to the late modern season as well but just firearm restricted by chance?  That would give you a chance to hunt it still.

Opps this was in the wrong thread.
