In my opinion a guy is better off woth a 7RUM. Basically same velocity, but there is no belt on the RUM, and you can make brass out of 300 or 338 RUM, which I think is easier to come by than 7 STW brass.

338 RUM brass is shorter then 300RUM or 7mm RUM so you cant form 7mm from 338.
The belt on magnum brass is a non issue for a reloader, no advantage or disadvantage.

I was unaware that the 338 was shorter. As far as the belt, I prefer to FL size my hunting brass, meaning it spaces of the belt instead of the shoulder. It's my understanding that this causes more case streatch and shorter case life.

What's the barrel length on a factory Sendero?

Call me a whimp, but there is no wat I would pack a Sendero all day long as a hunting rifle.

So what's the process to "convert" a 7mm into a 7mm STW?

Yup,  just have a smith rechamber with a 7 STW reamer.

As far as resizing belted mags.......after the first firing, bumping the shoulder .002-.003" will be sufficient for FL resizing and eliminate the case stretch.  No different than resizing a non-belted case really.  You don't have to resize down to the belt.  This is why everyone gripes about belted cartridges.  Even in my "match" chambers that are a tighter spec there are no problems in feeding and case life much better than sizing down to the belt each time.  STW brass can be difficult to find at times, but try finding 300 Ultra brass right now....most places have been out of it for over a year.  Buy a couple hundred STW cases and it will last the life of your barrel.

BTW, Cabelas in Lacey has 7 STW brass now.  I saw several bags while I was searching for 284 brass last week.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

If it's too heavy to carry all day as a hunting rifle you could always lose 3 or 4 pounds then your actually carrying the same weight around the hills.  Thats what I fugured anyway.

My only argument against that is I carry the 4lbs spread all over my body, all day every day, not in my arms a couple of weeks a year.

With a muzzle brake the Edge kicks less than a 270.

It all depends on your hunting style on rifle weight.  In my opinion, a 10lb rifle is not heavy at all.  My main hunting rifle weighs 13.5lbs and I have done backpack hunts, horse hunts, packed it all over the Western states.  When I need to make a shot, close to really far, I know it will be stable enough to do the job.   I don't mind the little extra weight, I just get in better shape.  Although I do build quite a few light rifles for guys, I don't shoot them that well, so I don't use them for my personal use.

Its fine if its a short hike but anything with elevation & distance just sucks.

Put the rifle in an Eberlestock pack and its no big deal...but I am 6'4".  This rifle has been on a couple 15 mile backpack hunts, high buck hunts and climbing mountains in Idaho and Montana.  I stay in shape and am not a small guy, so I guess that helps.  My pack contains the following, so a slightly heavier rifle isn't a big deal:

Eberlestock Just one pack
Swarovski SLC 10x42's
Swarovski Rangefinger
Swarovski 20-60x80 spotting scope w/ tripod
Video Camera
small digital camera
Ammo
PDA
Kestrel 3500
GPS60SC
Game bags
Lunch
Knives and saw
Couple water bottles
First Aid Kit
Rope and flashlight

As you can tell, I don't really still hunt in the timber.  More glassing and spotting.  Timber hunting gets a bow or pistol.
