So, I spent an hour writing a great story and it went away into the ether when one of my photos was a little too big.....

Short story, my city folk part-time neighbors call me for help a lot. I got a call yesterday saying the turkeys, that usually just poop on their nice porch, were in their house but they finally got them out. So, now they REALLY want at least one dead. I told them they were in luck as it was still turkey season and I had a tag.
Yesterday I chased two groups, flung two arrows but missed both as they were really spooky. Had a chance at one with about a twelve inch beard in the evening with the shotgun but could not clearly identify it once I was in range. So, all in all, four different toms which was nice to see as we had pretty much only seen one with the hens all season, hence the reason he was still alive.
Went over about nine this morning and saw the group with two toms and two hens, crawled close, got spotted, moved a deer out of the way and got around the brush just in time to get one of the toms. He was a nice 17 pounder with two beards, 8 and 8 1/2 inches and one inch spurs.
The first photo is a view from their deck. I got the turkey on the far side of the clump of trees and brush. They wonder why the turkeys like their yard so much?? Could be all of the clover in the grass, the fact that they are only there once in a while, the covered porch, and the little pond down below, but maybe not....
The only thing the neighbors were upset about was that I shot the one they named McCain and not one of the hens named Palin....
I said I was simply thinning out the number of candidates for Obama's supreme Court or cabinet nominations. It is nice to have good neighbors even if they lean to the "wrong " side of the fence.
