Big buck hit by car on Hwy 209?
« on: November 12, 2010, 05:21:31 PM »
Anyone see or hear about the huge buck killed earlier this week just outside Leavenworth?  My dad saw it crushed between the vehicle and retaining wall but didn't stop to snap a picture.  Said it looked to go 30"+.  Buddy checked with wdfw and they said DOT crews took it for disposal.  Ok, it must be in a garage somewhere, or someone at least took a picture before they "buried" it.

Some of you boys or girls in the Wenatchee Valley have to know a WSDOT guy.  Guess I will have to swing by the shop when I am over next week scouting.

Thank you hookset and Stickslinger.  Still a nice buck.  Obviously dads' eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be.  He swore it was a 30" buck.  Guess I'll have to try and show him one sometime in the next two weeks.  I would hang a tag on that pig any day though.

Stupid state!  Wy not let the person who hit it tag it or allow someone else to do so?  What a waste of meat.  Tagged two in WI that I didn't even hit, no dent repairs for me, but the people that did hit them did not want them.  WI just has an LEO look at it, make sure it wasn't shot, and drops a tag on it for you.  Of course they hit more in a year on the roads than we harvest here.... :'(
