6X6.  I'll start a thread for my muzzy hunt if you write it.  If I write it, it would be like a little league baseball game on after the world series.  Nobody will be too impressed.  Just kidding, I'll get something started before I leave on Wednesday.  Scouted a little on my way to and from Yakima this weekend.  Hoping things fall into place.  Thanks again for your info/help.

Dec. 9th - 17th, Area 335 muzzleloader.  At least that's what I think.  I hope I didn't miss my season
I'm headed over on Wednesday afternoon, staying until Sunday, home for a day or two then will finish out the season.  I hope it doesn't take that much time but will put it in if I have to.

When I started this I thought it was about me, my journey, and my time with Dad. I was wrong. I was mearly a couple chapters in a story that has an ending we all could have never forseen.

I received a call this morning that brought chills to me, and as I sit here writing this a huge smile. I now realize this was about something much bigger, and someone else's journey.

We'll call Dance three the perfect ending.

The landowner who had given me permission to hunt called this morning. I was going to be the only one allowed to hunt the property until he got a call Saturday morning. A friends friends Dad had terminal cancer and had drawn the tag as well. It would be his last hunt. Since I had eventually filled my tag on State land, the land owner agreed to let him hunt a bull.

On Sunday morning the bulls remained uncharacteristically in their beds on a small knob they always vacated well before light. As the man and his son worked their way up the hill the bulls just watched. When they were 40 yards away the monster 6 stood up right in front of him, broadside, and he put a beautiful shot on it. He said he never imagined his lifetime dream would be fulfilled before cancer took him. His Bull will score in the 380's.

Now THAT is AWESOME!!!!!! Sounds like the landowner is one heck of a stand-up fella too. Kudos to him for allowing this to happen. This thread just keeps getting better.

The land owner sounds like a great guy as well, and I am so glad to hear another man took a bull that will carry a lasting memory as well.

6X6,  You did the tag proud and should have no regrets about the first bull. I am sure you stayed on him longer and farther than most people ever would have. That is a compliment to your Dad, he taught you to not give up on an animal until you and only you are satisfied about the animal in question. Elk, whether it be a bull or a cow is a tough critter. They can take a heck of a lick either by bow or rifle and keep on going. There are a lot of us on this site, that have lost our best hunting buddy, our Dads. We all followed your hunt and waited for the next chapter to unfold. I bet some of the others on here as well as myself, thought back to the years when the "Old Man" was still on the mountain with us. Thanks for helping to
re-ignite a lot of the old memories.

First let me say that you have a gift.  you are a great writer.  I hope you have kept a journal of some kind with things you have written.  Not only did your story bring in many readers just for the hunt, but perhaps several of us learned some other things also, about ourselves and of others.  Bet you didn't think of that when you started did you?

Perhaps that first bull will in fact make it through.  We all hope so.  And maybe you were never going to get a bull on that private property. Your hunt may have been written already.  Sounds to me as if destiny had a big hand in this story.  Seems it turned out to be a great hunt for more than just you.

Congratulations.  Write more okay.
