If you are talking about using a ml in a firearm restricted area, then typically, yes.

Not sure what you mean by " shotgun and archery area", usually referred to as "Firearm restriction area",  :dunno:
ML is legal in  "Firearm restriction area"

Yes, if you have a modern license and are in a firearm restricted area.

An in-line muzzleloader with a scope is not allowed in Washington as far as I know.

Muzzleloaders with a scope is not allowed in Washington as is 204 primers are not allowed.
They are legal in firearm restricted areas in a modern season.

I did not know you could use scopes on muzzleloaders at all. Good to know. Republic Wa. is restricted to firearms and I know you can't use muzzleloaders there.???? Master Hunters only with bow.

I was thinking of area area's like ringold, wallula junction or big flats.  It says shotgun and archery only on the signs but nothing about muzzleloading.  I'm thinking it is illegal.

Waluke yes. Big Flats no. Ringold and wallula I have no idea. There is a contact number on the sign. Just give them a call. I would bet that ringold would be ok but you better call ahead first. Each area has their own restrictions and they can change from year to year. I used to hunt ringold with a modern rifle until they posted it (probably 15 years ago). Never checked to see if muzzy was ok.

I have the same dilemma. There's an area owned by the WDFW near here that has a sign that says shotgun only. Wanted to hunt it for deer but with a muzzleloader tag, I wasn't sure if I'd be legal with the muzzleloader. Going by common sense you would think so, but going strictly by what the sign says, then no it wouldn't be legal.

There are some areas that are "shotgun only" by local ordinance.  Those are not the same as "firearm restricted".  If it says shotgun only, that probably means no muzzleloaders of any kind.  If an area is truly "firearm restricted", that means no centerfire rifles may be used but pretty much everything can: muzzleloaders with scopes, crossbows, etc.

Some of the signs that are posted are misleading. Therefore, when you call and get permission get it in writing. You do not want to get a ticket because your only defense is "a lady on the phone told me it was ok". That usually doesn't fly and unless you are being checked by the controller for the area. An LEO will have no idea what is correct. All they will see is a sign saying shotgun area. Each area is different, has different regulations. Do yourself a favor and confirm before hunting it. These can often be very productive areas because nobody takes the time to research what is available.
