Best method to skin/ cure coyote pelt??
« on: November 28, 2010, 07:59:42 PM »
I've passed on two now deer hunting this year and thought I'd better ask the question after seeing a really nice, light-colored yote today I would like to have on the wall. Any help? Thank you.

Oh boy , if you have never done it try to find someone in your area that has , the skinning isnt all that hard but the tanning is kinda complcated and you need alot of special equiptment . Google coyote skinning/ tanning and you should be able to find a couple of diffrent videos on skinning and tanning . or there are always the taxidermist but that costs money . if you know how to skin one you can salt it and send it off to moyle tanning inn idaho www.moytown.com

Get your salt at Costco. $5 gets you a $hitload.

You get 25# of salt for $4 at COSTCO or you can get 50# for $6 at your local feed store.  You want the fine grain feeder salt.  Not rock salt or mineral salt.

Just skin, flesh, stretch, dry and ship to Moyles.  Here's a half dozen  that just came out of the box from moyles havent combed them out yet.

If you want I'll post some more info and links.  I put on a pelt handling demo at Cabelas for the WWPHA last summer.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska
