Duck Hunting the Columbia River

Does anyone know if there is any good duck hunting areas from a boat on the Columbia River near Ridgefiled or Woodland?  I'm not looking for anyone's honey hole, I am just curious if there are any good areas that can be accessed by boat on the river between Vancouver and Longview.  I see several boat launches along the river but I'm not sure if there is any good ducking hunting areas on the river on the WA side until you get to Cathlamet.  Thanks in advance for any info!

Go explore... its the best tool out there. What you find with your own eyes will make you feel so much better than someone else telling you what they have seen with theirs.

Not really any good spots in that location.  If you buy an Oregon license you can cross the river and hunt the slough by Saint Helens.  You will need to launch at Kalama or lower in the river to get good bird hunting or head east on the CR.

Thanks, I kind of figured there wasn't much on the WA side.  I can't justify spending that much on an OR license so I guess its head east or as ducks55 said do some exploring.

Check out google earth it has helped me alot for locating hidden pockets and island... But i have never done much good on the wash side all the good islands our on the ooregon side out of browns mead ext.... It's worth the 140 bucks to hunt that side i unless your willing to hit up the coast .... There is a boat launch at willow grove out of Longview, also one on the kalama river...

  Like others have said go explore and make sure you have a map or gps showing the state line, because unlike fishing the columbia you have to have a hunting license for the state your hunting and the washington side of the CR is little thin.

Thanks for the advice guys.  I just can justify spending $140 bucks to shoot ducks. It goes against everything I stand for... morals, principals, ethics and common sense. I can spend $50 bucks and shoot an elk that will fill my freezer and feed my family but I would have to pay $140 to shoot ducks on the other side of some imaginary line in the river   Forget about it!  I'm not giving my money to that state.  Call me cheap, but I am not paying to hunt out of a blind at Ridgefield either.  Vancouver Lake offers some potential, otherwise I will do some exploring on the river or the coast.
