Plane
« on: December 04, 2010, 09:34:12 PM »
I've been trying to get pictures of this plane for a few months now. It has been doing some touch and go landings on Big Lake. These are a couple that I have taken so far. Feel free to add any plane pictures you have taken.

You flew it or maintained it? Always loved that bird. Is it true that they leaked fuel until they were hauling arse?

That is one cool picture.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Those are sweet planes, that one has a different cockpit configuration than most.

No connection really, just really love the C-17. Very fond memories of driving into UWT from Graham on Pacific Ave. and seeing them fly above me every day.

Burrhead, that's a Republic SeeBee. Very common amphibious plane that started life just after WW2. The military used them for awhile as the OA-15. The last one was built in 1948.  8)

Wow. That's some great info. I would have never guessed that plane was built that long ago. Every time I hear it coming I scramble for my camera and run out the door to try to get some pic's but I am usually to late for the best picture opportunities. I want to try and capture it as it hits the water and on take off.

Crew Chief, 1982-1986.  If you look closely, you can see a small puddle forming near the right main gear, and another under the inboard main gear doors.  They dripped constantly, but especially right before launch when the fuel system was pressurized with liquid nitrogen.  We "wore" JP-7 every day, whether we wanted to or not.  We called it "Essence of 7".
Nothing witty here.... move along.

.....that one has a different cockpit configuration than most.

That is the "B" model, trainer.  The aft cockpit had full controls, the instructor sat there.
