Traveling buck

These two photos are almost 2 MILES apart as the crow flies..they are of the same buck.  I have many photos of this guy and I know his rack inside out and backwards.  Blacktails travel far and wide during the rut.  Figuring out their path to scent check doe groups is challenging to say the least.  Funnels help but this isn't the midwest where crops, irrigation ditches, and fencerows provide obvious travel corridors.  Luck is often much easier

Nope!  That deer is something else.  He either travels from his home range into my areas or he's just that good as remaining a mystery.  I hope to find him after December again to prove he made it, and once again I'll spend 100's of hours looking for his sheds.  I have photos from February of this year with his rack and I spent a TON of time scouring the salal, ferns, big timber, cuts, etc. only to come up empty.  Most deer in the area were dropped by then too which is why I just couldn't let it go.  Every chance I got I went searching.  That buck is now 7 1/2 years old by my estimation from sheds.  I hope to get a photo of him at the very least just to see if he's regressed this year.  I know of one other buck that was a 4x4 last year and this year was only a 3x3.

That's another solid buck, I've never doubted they travel that far during the rut.  They spend their whole lives in those woods, a couple miles to them is like going across town to us.

Yep!  Nothing like trying to pattern big woods blacktails through a sea of ferns!

7 1/2, holy smokes, he's gunna stop showing up one of these years Hopefully we get some more snow, already noticed a few of my shed hunting areas are looking pretty matted down it helps a ton finding bt sheds...good luck, i'll be watching for more of your posts.......

Great looking buck...Ive seen a few good one's off of the D line...up there in CF...nice work...hope you get him..
