Another Methow Trip
« on: April 13, 2008, 06:10:26 PM »
I took the kids to E WA for the weekend so I decided to spend some time in the Methow looking for critters, sheds, etc. While I did not find any sheds I did find this one I call "As they lay"

This little turd had the nerve sit and then lay down 50 yards from me, staring at me the whole time.

Overall, I was surprised to see good numbers of deer considering the amount of snow and other negative reports from that area. I wish I had a wider angle lens, this string of deer was over 45 in number.

There were good numbers around every corner I traveled. The problem is that this time of year they all look the same.

Nice pictures I really like the binoculars, I think they are mine. The ones addicted lost, no they were smaller.  :)

Good to hear 300.  You should have shot that little bastage.

The only problem is that herd of 45 is usually about 200 this time of year.  I remember going out one day counting over 1000 deer.  You have to remember that the entire deer population for all those mountains in the background winter right in that basin.  You are right...it is more fun when you see bones on thse heads.  Won't be long though and the nubs will be growing.

First of all drive over Washington pass as soon as they open it.  Its impressive and in a big snow year AWESOME.   They usually try to open it before fishing season starts, but I don't think its done or open yet.  It will be impressive this year.

Nice find Dan! Bet the kids had fun.

I hope the pass is open before Mothers day because we hope to come over for 49er Days. I have a wedding to go to on that Saturday so we'll be leaving around 4am on Sunday for the outfitters breakfast, packers competition, and then the auction. If the pass is open. that is....If any of you have never been over for that event, your missin a good time and some great food!

keep an eye out for Idabooner.   He rarely misses the event, and he is almost Royalty now.....not for the parade, but being one of the only real locals left.

I'll have to keep my eye out for him. A friend of a friend use to help Steve Darwood a few years ago.  I wonder if Idaboomer would know him?
