Late Muzzy Deer hunt help!
« on: December 08, 2010, 01:08:15 PM »
Hey all -

There's a lot of good information on this Forum and I enjoy reading your posts. I'm headed over to the coast to hunt Williams Creek at my last chance to fill my deer tag. At this point i'm looking to fill the freezer. I'm staying in Longbeach and will drive up 101 or off Naselle road to hunt. Anyone know if the bucks are still ruttin or of any decent clear cut's behind closed gates I could explore? I have hunted the southern part williams creek and bear river for Elk last year but didn't see many deer at all. Any info would be great!!

Thanks!

Mark

Most of the rut activity has died down.  I still saw some rut behavior the first few days of December, but that was it.  In my last few days of hunting, it has seamed like all of the bucks have disappeared.  Does are still around, but I haven't seen any accompanied by bucks. :dunno:

This is what I've seen in the Lincoln unit anyways, which is right next to Williams, but higher in elevation for the most part.  It may be different were you are.  The blacktail rut can differ just in different pockets of an area.

Good luck to you!  Hope to read a story about you filling your freezer later!

Looks like I have a ton of rain and wind coming... Sure hope I can keep the powder dry....

If anyone else hunts close to this area :dunno:, let me know your thoughts. Not looking for a honey hole or anything... PM me :hello: :hello:.....

Thanks again!!!
